His first museum retrospective in the United States “Selected Works 1958-74” is held at the La Jolla Museum of Contemporary Art, California. The exhibition tours throughout the United States, ending with a show at the Albright-Knox Museum in Buffalo, New York.

Exhibition « Concrete Lyrics », New dissected musical instruments embedded in concrete are exhibited in Andrew Crispo’s Gallery in New York.

He plays GO with Japanese master Isamu Haruyama in Vence, France.

Arman travels to Egypt.

He creates freestanding sculptures of accumulated tools while working in Nagoya (Japan) and he exhibits them at the Galerie Valeur  (Nagoya).
A retrospective of his works is held at the Centre d'Art et de Culture in Flaine, France.

He gives up GO and spends less time on his African Art Collection. He creates wall relief sculptures made out of tools and utensils.

An european retrospective “Parade of Objects” is held at Kunstmuseum, Hanover, Germany. It then tours throughout Europe and to the Tel Aviv Museum in Israel.

He completes monumental sculpture “Long Term Parking”, at Jouy-en-Josas, France.
